I worked a "4-10" shift years ago. It was 4 nine hour days, three off, four nine hour evenings with three off, and four midnights with two days off, but when you got off in the morning of that last midnight, you had all day off, then your days off started the next day.

I never had court on off duty time. We had three court dates scheduled during the month - one minor motor vehicle, one serious motor vehicle, and one criminal.

All the shifts overlapped, with the largest overlap between evenings and midnights.

It was great, would have saved the county money by not paying OT. Seemed I was off all the time.

Downside - Just about every officer would have to have his/her own cruiser, plus a few spares for pool cars. AACo would never go for that many cruisers.
