Feeling Nostalgic

Saw a post by Walt about holding onto a note from Wayne Marshall and it reminded me of all the little notes, card, photos and other mementos I have saved from co-workers and supervisors over my career. Many have passed and some have moved away and I don't know their status. A Post-It note from Dru Bishop, a note about a report from Lt. Sylve, Christmas cards put in your mailbox from guys on your shift. Pictures you take events or family shift parties and so many other things. They are all personal and reminders of the many respected supervisors and the great co-workers on your shift (s) or guys in CID you worked cases with. Some I have go back to 1976 and I may find other, older ones one day in some box I packed away decades ago. So, I am feeling nostalgic, in a good way, not a depressed way. I am smiling when I see the cards I got and picturing in my mind the guy who sent it and even an event or a call that invokes his memory to me. It is funny that some cards were probably just "obligatory", put one in everyones mailbox even if you didn't actually work or hang out with them. But, I kept those also. Even one from Chief Ashley Vick. In an effort to de-clutter I have scanned in those memories, and even if I discarded the note or card, I still have a folder in the computer to open and look back on. I mostly only open it to add new items or if I hear that someone has passed I will look to see if I have something I can post that others can enjoy. Perhaps others have some special mementos they have kept (other than old reports, citations or dead body pictures . Thank you, Walt for the memory you invoked of Wayne Marshall.
