Re: Social Security COLA to be 8.7%
Except for those lucky stiffs who are receiving a government pension. Why, it is downright outrageous that some people are getting paid for doing nothing for the rest of their lives! That money could be put to better use! Lump it in with the all the cash that we're gonna save when we defund the police, and there's no telling how many people living lives of desperation — through no fault of their own, other than a perfectly understandable reluctance to get jobs — we will be able to lift out of poverty. The very though boggles the mind! Even in the people who don't seem to have minds. Like the members of Congress. Like many of you, I worked and paid in to Social Security before and after I worked for the Police Department. I had many more quarters on their books than needed to qualify for full benefits. But ever since I started receiving Social Security payments some time back in the Stone Age, the monthly amount has never changed. It's a whopping $279.00 a month. And it never will change. Such is life. We are, to paraphrase Dave Plymyer, "low-hanging fruit." Thank you, and good night.
