Last week I received a letter from the Comptroller of MD Compliance Program Section auditing my 2019 taxes and requesting I submit to them my 1099-R, along with a "certification" from my employer (Anne Arundel County) that my retirement income is attributable to my service as a law enforcement officer. The letter gives me thirty days to respond.
I called the County Pension Office at 410-222-7595, and they stated that they had received notice of this, and were expecting related phone calls. They verified my name and address and I am awaiting an e-mail, (or mail if preferred) of a standardized form letter to address this issue, and send into the MD Comptroller's Office.
