Did such a conversion ever really occur?
I can find no reference to it.
There was really only one Yankee II boat ( Project 667AM ), with SS-N-17 instead of SS-N-6 missiles, K-140 and as far as I can see, it was never converted to anything, and was out of service by 1990. So I remain mystified.
