For the benefit of those who have not seen the models, the "Yankee Short" is a "Yankee II" with the vertical launch missile tubes removed (along with the corresponding length of the pressure hull). The date of 1998 would mean that it have turned a nuclear-powered SSBN into a nuclear-powered "attack" boat.

Thanks - I have seen the model, I am curious as to what variant (if real) it depicts...Alain was usually pretty accurate but while I can find information on all his other Yankeee class variants, I cannot find any on this one.
