Since you asked about post-WW2 Comet, Framburg, the choice would be hard for me because of the many "upgrade/rebuilt" versions put out by Superior. If I just look at the "first editions" from the original makers I would nominate the Framburg Saratoga or the South Salem Wichita.
These models, in my opinion, don't get enough respect. They were mass-produced in wartime and, given that, the standard isn't too bad. Framburg definitely far better than most of the Comets.
The Comet 1/500 German set of Teacher models are elegant.
