Very sad news. Rudi was a giant in the hobby, and truly transformed it. I owe him a debt of gratitude because he undertook casting my SMY models in 1998, and he and his son Egbert did so for at least a decade.

It is my sad duty to inform you, that Rudi Kraus died last Saturday at the age of 94. With the death of Rudi we loose one of the key persons of our hobby. Rudi together with his late brother Willi built up Navis/Neptun. The brothers developed new methodes of casting model ships. With these methodes they were able to deliver models, that showed details never possible before. Rudi Kraus together with the late Peter Wiedling were the mentors of our hobby.
Outside our hobby Rudi Kraus was a successful entrepreneur in real estate and hydro electric power. He constructed and built a small hydro electric power plant in Lower Bavaria.
