During our 2011 European 1250 tour, our first stop was at the production facility of Neptuns. We got to see, and admire, where all the wonderful models from our collections came from. Rudi, Egbert and Johann Ottmann were there to explain their processes. Our visit was a great pleasure. Afterwards, we went on to visit Peter Wiedling. Peter and his wife had prepared a Bavarian lunch for us with Weisswurst and Bockwurst. What a wonderful day. Thank you to both Rudi Kraus and Peter Wiedling for their great contributions to our 1250 hobby. Previous Message
It is my sad duty to inform you, that Rudi Kraus died last Saturday at the age of 94. With the death of Rudi we loose one of the key persons of our hobby. Rudi together with his late brother Willi built up Navis/Neptun. The brothers developed new methodes of casting model ships. With these methodes they were able to deliver models, that showed details never possible before. Rudi Kraus together with the late Peter Wiedling were the mentors of our hobby.
Outside our hobby Rudi Kraus was a successful entrepreneur in real estate and hydro electric power. He constructed and built a small hydro electric power plant in Lower Bavaria.
and pls. allow me: I lost a good friend.
Details of the funeral service are not yet known.
