Interesting. I also visited Hal and met his family. I only bought a few of his ships, but I did buy a lot of 1/1200 parts from Hal and he custom cast some 1/500 parts for me. Even with a name like San Diego ship man, I assume you are originally from Illinois? Previous Message
Yep, I remember Hal Reynolds. Did business with him beginning in 1973. Met his family. Nice bunch of people. Bought tons of model ships and had custom castings and parts made. You cannot find that nowadays. I'm still working on the stuff I got from him. Previous Message
I agree. It looks like something Hal Reynolds of Metal Miniatures made. Previous Message
Photo on Ebay is of a metal model that may be an enhanced copy of an old recognition model, kinda rough in execution. I doubt that it is an old Japanese rec model. I have no idea who might have produced the original model. Original could have been Metal Miniatures of Illinois in the 1970s. The enhancements look like what Metal Miniatures did to their models (boats, guns). Original also looks similar to typical Bessarabis, Comet, etc. model. Previous Message
I have this ship and now I see it on ebay. Item # 386394531502 is this SS Letitia ? Who made it ?I have had this model over 25 years as a Japanese ID ship.
