I coud not find any info about recognition models aboard the USS Alalbama, but the USS New Jersey has a bunch in what aopears to be a chart case; however, it is not clear if they are on display. On board the USS Alabama there is a full display of wartime 1/1200 USN recognition models (I can't recall if there are other navy's ships as well), and there are a couple of 1/1200 battleship v. battleship dioramas. One of those is a hypothetical Alabama versus Tirpitz match. It's probably not well known, but the Alabama and Soak spent the first year of their service attached to the British Home Fleet in Scapa Flow. During one operation the Alabama was sent out as part of a sortie hoping to entice Tirpitz to come out and fight. |
