The closeness of the twin gun barrels suggests that they were mounted in a single cradle, Italian-style. How about secondary 7.5" on a Regina Elena-class battleship or more likely a Pisa-class armoured cruiser as those ships were new in 1909?
In fact the searchlight matches the Greek cruiser, Georgios Averoff, which would have been brand new at the time of the review and had been fitted with British 9.2" guns in the main turrets instead of the Italian 10" of the Pisa-class, so she may have been in the right place at the right time. The sighting hoods on the turrets could have been a British modification to the secondary turrets....
Agreed. The only wing turrets similar would be the Mk XII 8/45" on the CONNECTICUT and MAINE Class pre-dreadnoughts, but this isn't one. I don't think that this is an American ship, and thus far I can't match it to anything British, French German, Italian or Russian, though it could be one of those.
Doesn't look very American to me...the turret design is a bit off and why would the only ship featured except Victorian and Albert be anything but British. But I really don't know what we are looking at here.
Any ideas as to the identity of this ship? Is it American?
The video is worth a look.
