I was wheelsman for a year on the MV Algosea in the 80's
that is one hell of a blind spot looking forward from the wheelhouse, there must be some cameras and screens for the wheelsman to feel his way through tight spots

Breaks with tradition. All the self unloaders I've seen (in person, in photos) have the boom extending forward from the pilot house.
