Re: California to Canada = 6 weeks $58 USD for postage = sucked big time
Hello Ben, I am a 1:1250 model ship collector in Montreal, are you a collector here in Montreal as well ?
Yep From www.1250ships.com California to MTL Canada, it took 5 to 6 weeks, and it happened 3 times this year.
The problem my not be 'Germany', it may be the parcel carrier. For example, my purchases from GM have used DHL for years , average time, 6 weeks. For those who understand the parcel shipping world, the initials DHL speak for themselves. I recently ordered some athletic clothing from a company located 200 miles away, here in the US. Shipped through DHL, took 2 weeks. Many could have walked faster. Peter W. never used that service and his packages routinely took 10-14 days, max., maybe a couple of days longer at the height of Covid. Last year I received one of his parcels in 5 days.
In the 1950s an airmail package took 5-7 days. A package sent to me via DHL from Dortmund on August 1, is still hanging around at the Frankfurt airport since August 2.
