I was diagnosed Aug 2014...triple positive so my HER2 positive from the get-go but I liken these tests like a pregnancy test...if you have a small amt of the element they test, tests can come up neg, if there is a larger amt of element, then tests can turn up pos later...I read the other day that HER2 is an aggresive type of cancer cell (my tumor grew from 2.5 cm to 5 cm from mammo to 1st doc appt in 6 weeks...yikes!)...so I think your onc is playing it safe/smart and treating you for the pos HER2 test...I got Perjeta to shrink the tumor and Herceptin for 1 yr....now on Letrozole and doing/feeling great..I feel confident your onc is giving you an appropriate treatment regimen...you know the saying, better to be safe than sorry
