But when I had my hip replacement on August 1 last year I lost 2 days in the hospital and the rest is a blur. My sodium in a blood test was 135 which is the lowest number you should have, when surgery started. Then it dropped to 119 after surgery.
My family was with me and they told the nurses that I was not talking like myself. They were going to send me home. They did a CT scan of my brain to see if I had a stroke. Then they took a blood test and saw my number and put me on a sodium IV.I spent 5 days in the hospital. Then I had to go once a month to have my sodium checked. You would be surprised at how serious it is if it drops too low. I can't seem to get it above 135.
So I have to eat salt and not drink too much water to dilute it too much, doctors orders. My family really stays on me to be sure I am eating salt. It scared them and when I found out about it all later it scared me that I would be alone and be too low and get in the car and go somewhere. I completely blacked out.
