If the rule, which I ignore anyway, has a purpose, then partying is not the proper response, IMO. Now if the Church said, St. P is ok, but please substitute Thursday or Saturday, fine. If the intent is (from wiki), "The purpose of fasting is spiritual focus, self-discipline, imitation of Christ, and performing penance.", then giving permission to get plastered seems inconsistent, although eminently practical in the Church's position.
