7-8 hours from C-U depending on where you go. Downside is you have to wait until late June for the lakes to warm up. And Lake Michigan is never warm. Plenty of sand up there in the Glen Lake area. But I have a friend who lives in DFW, and every years since his kids were little, week after Memorial Day, they'd leave at midnight and drive straight through to Destin.
