I'm going with 13. IMO, that Screen Rant list is partially perverse, although she got Ryan right as numero uno. No one else is even close to Robert Ryan. He was made for noir. One of his last performances was in The Iceman Cometh, when he was terminally ill. All the world weariness of failed idealism and dashed hopes is wrapped up in his performance – just brilliant. As for the noir women, I’d go with Stanwyck(The finest actress of Hollywood’s Golden Era), Crawford and Lupino. For the guys, after Ryan, I’ll go with Bogey, John Garfield, Robert Mitchum, Edmond O’Brien, Sterling Hayden, Raymond Burr, Burt Lancaster, Charles McGraw, and Dan Duryea.
