Just a question on protocols. Why are some threads like the one discussing a HOT trigger doubling closed to further responses? Basically who makes that decision and why was it made in this particular case ? Thank you

There is no protocol regarding locking or deleting threads Angelo. The header states "Testimonials" about work completed by gunsmiths are not accepted... Michael asked for help and helpful advice was given. When "testimonials" started regarding specific gunsmiths it was my opinion that everything that needed to be said, had been said, so I locked the thread.
The "Please review this message before posting" states: 2. Please add your email at the end of your post if seeking parts or a gunsmith recommendation so other LCSCA members may assist you privately. https://members.boardhost.com/lcsmith/msg/1525210007.top
If posters would do so, that would allow private communication and the option to express personal opinions.
