I have pieced a few stocks back into service. Dan is correct, it's always better and easier to make a good initial repair. A recent job I encountered was initially done with liquid steel. That stuff was difficult to remove and most definitely complicated my repair. Examples such as this make the project more time consuming, but most any broken stock can be repaired- including those with missing chunks of wood or old, poor quality existing repairs. Some well executed repairs can be very difficult to detect, even on close examination. Others are rather obvious but repairs that are done correctly will put a fine gun back into service!
