Thanks David. I understand. I like oil as well to cure the barrels. By using used motor oil, all of the silicon stuff has been cooked off and what's left is better for them than new oil.
At the last Southern, a fellow looked at my first set and said they "perfect", which meant nice, but not too nice, and appropriate for the condition of the rest of the gun. Personally, I don't entirely agree with making an old gun factory new again. Perhaps I'd feel differently if could afford that and had a gun worth doing it on. My goal is to refresh them.
