Bill, I would not take the HOT apart to configure another trigger for it. These are finicky enough without taking them apart. Also as an example if your trigger configuration is in the rear position with a length of pull at 14", putting a front trigger in would now give you around 15" length of pull. Middle position around 14 1/2".
As to the light trigger pull, I don't know enough about the internals of the HOT but would have to do with the sear pressure on firing plate. It is very possible someone altered (filed) the sear/s. I don't know how you could reverse this without replacing the sears. If you still have the gun and are at the Southern I would be glad to talk to you about these things and can measure the trigger pull for you.
