I am considering the purchase of an 1886 L C Smith as a project gun. Please tell all you can think of that I should consider for safe shooting of a gun that old. I shoot only light 1 ounce loads at 1200 fps or 7/8 ounce reloads at the same 1200fps. Would a gun that old have 2.75" chambers. I don't want to put a lot into a project gun unless I can ultimately shoot it safely.
