From what I have read and tried to research is hard because the employees at Hunter Arms Co. never wrote the process down exactly. It was passed down by word of mouth. When Marlin started production again in 1968 it was a hit or miss deal with quite a few problems and frames warped. When you look at these Marlin era guns with the prefix of FWM the colors are not the same, lot more blue color. There are a handful of restorers out there that have come very close to the colors like Hunter Arms had.
