Tim in a Repair Price List for L.C. Smith Guns Effective May 15, 1946 under "The Following Prices are the same for all grades of guns" they would Hunterize Locks and Frames (all black) for $10.00.
In a Repair Price List for L.C. Smith Guns, Effective September 15, 1948 under "The following are prices for all grade guns" Blue locks and frames $12.50
If the job looks good who is to say it was not done at the factory. I have seen a few guns for sale on Internet auctions that were blued/ black. Who is to dispute that it was not done at the factory.
The above were taken right from the handouts that were given out at hardware stores from the L.C. Smith Gun Company.
I'm sure you will hear otherwise but it is right there in black and white.
