Irvin; A few short years back,the older guns were worth up to a third more over the later made guns by Marlin after 1945.This is not the case in todays market,condition is everything.The 1922 gun will have a 2.5 chamber unless someone has opened it up to 2.750 by now.The 1949 gun should have the 2.750 chambers and will be marked as such under the barrels.The 1949 gun will have a raised rib which points real nice for me and will weigh more to carry.It is not a problem to have the older guns chambers lengthened to 2.750.I do this type of work as well as many other places.Hope that this may be of help to you.Charlie.
