I shoot a 1949 26 inch barrel field grade 16 gauge when hunting Mearns Quail, brother shoot field grade damacus barrel 16 gauge. When you hunt Mearns Quail Hunting rule # 1 you are going to fall and put dings and scratches on your gun!!!!!! We love the combination as the Brit will range little further out and Braque will stay between us and the Brit. We've had 4 Braques in the family over last 18 years and 3 of 4 have been good dogs with solid noses. Started using them in Iowa in 1997-1998 as a team with 1 or 2 Brits. The Braque and Brit we are working now is the best pair of dogs I've ever hunted over.
