I find it very difficult to get an answer on pricing, but I would be happy to give you my opinion...
This is all of course sight unseen. I do however track it online quite passionately. Asking prices are all over the map, private sales and confirmed sales are often elusive. Gunbroker, gunauction, and other auction sites are easy to view post auction results . VERY FEW 20 ga field grades sell for 1500+, even fewer 20 ga field grades are A TRUE 45% case with very clean wood. Run of the mill 26,28 inch, double trigger, pistol grip guns in acceptable condition ( case in protected areas, clean wood, wear in the carry areas, clean barrels ) can be had for $800-1000 if one is dedicated to the cause. I have bought and sold guns in that range in the last two years. I am refering to respectable guns, truly clean examples are outliers and go up fast. Straight grip guns go up fast, auto ejectors tack on more. Single trigger probably does as well although I haven't seen enough on field grade 20s to make a judgement. Pre 1913 O and OO 20s in strong condition bring a good bit more than that. (2200 to 2500 on some straight grip guns I saw sell this year.) Now put together a few desirable combinations and it can start to add up. I bought a 20ga 30 inch, straight grip, ejector gun with twin ivory beads and about 40% case for around 1500, but I wouldn't part with it for for that. Personally unless it was clearly spectacular I wouldn't want an average configured field grade for much more than 1200. I am cheap but I dont think I am insane. But hey everything above is just my opinion !
