    Will, the old adage, "better to be safe than sorry" definitely applies here.
    Years ago before bore gages we took it for granted that the bores were safe, now we can't.
    It seems everyone wants a 100+ year old gun with mirror bores and unfortunately in most cases that means honing to get them......and some times too far.

    Also it seems in most of these cases with blown barrels, most seem to be operator error, meaning obstruction.

    English guns need to have a minimum of .020 wall thickness to pass proof, think about that, 5 sheets of copy paper, scary aint it.
