I have a 1941 Field Grade L. C. Smith which I had restored. The 32" barrels on the gun had been reblued in the past and had a small brass bead front sight which, to me, looked original. The company did a beautiful restoration job, but it replaced the brass bead front sight with an ivory (white plastic) bead front sight which looks about twice the diameter of the brass one. 1. Can the new white front bead sight be easily unscrewed and replaced with a brass one which is similar (identical) to the original? 2. What was the diameter of the brass bead front sights Hunter Arms Co installed on (Field Grade) L. C. Smiths. 3. Where would you obtain one? Brownells?
