    Details, as I see them as a novice, on the 2E 12 gauge Smith sn. 1074-32" barrels raised ventilated rib.

    Receiver group: both lockplates line engraved, center scroll rosettes, all pins and screw heads engraved, no buggered screws or pins, no cracks or splits anywhere on either plate or either top or bottom tangs. Three position safety with the slide having a "window" so that SAFE can bee seen when in the middle position. PG 18 LPI checking, Hawkins red pad with slight side vents and LOP is aprox. 14 and 1/8" from front trigger. Weight is aprox. 3 and 1/2 lbs. Frane marked on right table 1074 is large type Left table marked: PAT'D MAR 29,83 JULY 13,86 and OCT 5,86. Not with bushed firing pins that my 1907 12 2E has.

    Barrels: Matting on raised vetilated rib identical to that on the barrels top rib- A 2" sloped bar with the expansion slot (filled with silver) with top scroll engraved, also the top rib extension which is aprox. 5/8" long. Brass bead front sight, aprox. 13/16" solid metal underneath at muzzle, rib is tapered and is aprox. 1/4" wide at muzzle and 1/2" wide at juncture of solid sloping "ramp" at breecg and is a uniform 1/8" thick.

    There are 11 rib posts, steel 4-pointed oval "stars" and the spacing is as follows, measured from the muzzle to aprox. center of each post1)3 and 3/16", (2)5 and 5/8", (3) 7 and 15/16", (4)10 and 3/8", (5)12 and 13/16", (6)15 and 1/8", (7( 17 and 9/16", (8)19 and 13/16", (9)22 and 3/16", (10)24 and 5/8",(11)27 and 7/8"!
    Barrels weigh aprox. 4 and 1/4 lbs.

    Forearm: Aprox 8 and 5/8" long, iron marked 1072 and 2= all screws and pins engraved, the front release mechanism is a knurled roll inside an engraved meatl frame, the tip is inset ebony, and the checking matches the pattern on the buttstock group as to layout and LPI (18).

    Overall gun weight (unloaded) is 8 lbs. perfect balance and for a pre-1900 mfg. double gun, is a straight stocked gun with about 7/8" downpitch fron muzzle and the rib- from a 90% plumbed door jamb, with the recoil pad face flush to the floor.
