Problem found in my early ejectors Archived Message

    Hank & Bill,
You never really specified what was wrong with yours. I had a problem also and this afternoon dove into it. Took the receiver wood from the metal (if you do this be careful and watch how it comes apart especially the clam shell release, I can see now why the did away with it, very time consuming to make these.)
Naturally gun is cocked, if ejectors can be cocked manually cock them. As you can see in the pictures after mine is fired it will eject when it was cocked manually. Now on gun, fired and broken, ejector cocking lever is not going into it's fit by 1/32". Put barrels on gun and tried it again after manually cocking them, fired and broke gun, did not re-set, used wrapped small blade screwdriver and pushed against ejector stem right as I was closing gun. They cocked. Tried it a few more times and one out of three they cocked.
So the problem seemed to me that the back end of the ejector stems are slightly worn or the ejector cocking levers are worn. Cut thin slivers of .012 cardboard and crazy glued them n to the forend ejector levers and tried it and they now cock every time. Put forend together and works every time.
So until someone figures out how to add something harder than cardboard this is my partial fix until then.
I don't know how you could add or weld any metal because all parts are hardened.

First picture shows ejectors manually cocked.

Second picture shows gun broken and how ejector is pushed on to use spring tension to work

Third picture shows how it is supposed to latch up to one another, and now is 1/32" off.

Forth picture is .012 cardboard fix, glued on to ejector levers.

So if you gentlemen would say what your problems might be, maybe we can figure something out.
