1947 L.C.Smith Field barrel irregularity Archived Message

I have just noticed on this recently purchased sxs a very, very minute flat spot on the right barrel. It is about 8 inches from the chamber and covers approx. 1/12 of the barrel circumference. It is only noticeable holding the barrel up to bright light where you can see the very tiny ripple. Nothing can be seen on the inside whatsoever. I can run my fingers up/down both barrels and feel this irregularity ever so slightly. There is no crease or indications of an impact. Could this be an external factory flaw or perhaps a repaired dent or previous rust repair? There is now only a tiny bit of freckling here and there .If there is an internal irregularity which I cannot now see will that effect the patterns being so far from the choke? Is this something to worry about? This is a Canadian gun that I would rate as Good condition. Your response would be appreciated.
