I have an ordnance marked WILDFOWL gun built in 1942. It is chambered for 2 3/4 inch shells and does not have a reinforcing splinter. I have profiled the special "long range" chokes and find them to be very ordinary. The main difference I can find is that the barrels are about 0.5 pounds heavier than a set of similar 32" barrels (4.3 v/s 3.8 pounds). The balance point is about 1 3/4 inch in front of the hinge pin instead of being at, or close to the pin.
