If any of you have a Long Range Wild Fowl gun and are willing to check the length of the chokes I would sure appreciate it. Soon as my telescopic gauges get here I will check my Eagle.
I have found an original letter from Hunter Arms that states that the chokes on LRWF guns are longer than normal. Normal choking on Smith guns from tip of muzzle to the start of the choke is 2 9/16" according to the various book sources available on the subject.
With a few people checking their guns, we will be able to quickly find out what the story is on this. Of course original length barrels will be a must on this "study" to ensure proper factory measurments. Please let me know if your willing to help out.
