On the contrary, thanks to you, UMC Armorer, for asking; and even many, many more thanks to you and your comrades who thanklessly defend our great country every day! As to any unintentional personal association with the military. my dad was a Jar Head, joining near the end of WWII, although he never saw combact in China where he was stationed; but yours truly has never served, and certainly does not have a rank. As to the moniker "SGT", that is intended solely as an acronym for "Shot Gun Tom", and is not my own original thought; but was hung on me by a poster very early in the history of the LCSCA forum. Being basically lazy at heart I liked the idea, as it meant I could avoid typing out the entire moniker each time I posted. And although I didn't give the idea tons of thought, I did choose to use all caps ("SGT"), as opposed to the abbreviation for sergent ("Sgt."), hoping that my doing so would not mistakenly cause readers to think I had military status. My apologies for this confusion.
As to Smith guns and Krupp barrels, evidence seems to indicate Hunter only cataloged optional Krupp barrels from 1900 to 1905. The only evidence I am aware of with Hunter using Krupp tubes after 1905 surfaced on a WWI era Ideal 20-bore. On that gun the Krupp Essen trademark on the bottom of each tube had been over-stamped "London Steel". But by this time Hunter was buying barrel tubes from a number of different tube suppliers; so in this era one can/will expect to see all manner of tube supplier's/maker's stamps, and they are often overstamped with one of Hunter's own barrel marks.
