I am stunned to say the least. I met John only once, last year at the Southern Side by Side. I had made arrangements with Bill to have a signing for the Kimble book and had the thought that maybe John would like to join me. We didn't know each other but I called him anyway and invited him to share a table and perhaps sell a book or two. He was most appreciative that I had considered him and accepted the invitation. We had a wonderful time and I enjoyed talking with him. A great man and a Southern Gentleman in the truest sense of the word. John Houchins will be greatly missed by all who knew him and even those who didn't. And what more can you say about a man?
