I met John at the Houston Gun Collectors show in 97 or or 98. John and his son Walker had a great display of LC Smith's. I had an interest in collecting vintage guns and was determined to learn more about side x side guns of Americana. I saw Johns display and talked to him for a while. After our talk I was convinced LC Smith was the gun I wanted to collect and shoot . Over the years John was patient and listened to my enthusiasm as he took the time to explain the history of the Smith gun. It was obvious John had a passion for LC Smith. I will never forget,I beckoned John to look at a Smith I had found. John pointed out the gun was not worth much and advised me not to spend my money on a wall hanger. Little did I know our paths would cross many times over the next ten years. I loved listening to John spin a yarn about his years working in our state capital, Austin, Texas as head of he Texas Water Commission. John was a true Texas gentleman and we will miss him.
