    ok - got the forend stripped (it was covered with chipped and cracked varnish - when my wife saw it, her comment was, "you paid $35 for a piece of plastic?!) - and this time I didn't use sandpaper

    After staining, and treatment with tru-oil, stock sheen & conditioner and gun stock wax, it matches the stock very well.



    I Ordered the metal parts that numrich has on it's site. The only parts they didn't have in stock were the forend spring pin, forend retracting spring, rear forend screws, and cocking plate screw. Guess I'll try to be patient and check frequently to see if they happen to get them in, and when I run out of patience take it to a local gun guy to have him manufacture some parts...
