Hello Mark, All I did was locate and bird dog/point this L C Smith 5E for a friend of mine who is a member of our LCSCA. We are all hoping that the original trigger guard can be found for the gun. The original trigger guard may positively identify the original owner. That trigger guard may have his name and/or initials engraved in the guard. We are very sure that the trigger guard was badly damaged when the butt stock was broken. Bill winter has brand new or like new trigger guards that can be fitted to this 5E and engraved and finished properly so that no one would ever know that it was not the original trigger guard. The man that we all think was the original owner of this L C Smith 5E was in fact just as famous as George Washington and contributed a great deal to our America history and culture. We are very very sure it was one of his guns we just all want to prove it before we publish it. The only reason this gun came on the market was due to a death and the ladies in the family began selling their inheritance. Good Shooting To You, Jent
