Those big woodcock over there are really something aren't they. Just a wonder in the hand, one of my best days ever when I killed my first. I spent a driven day on them in North Devon a couple years back.

Was it just mallards when you did the duck shoot, or did you get some widgeon and teal? That night flighting on the ponds is the cream of the fowling over there as far as I'm concerned. The dark settling in all around you, hearing the birds call out of the gloaming, the quick shot as they pass you in the dark, seeing the fire flash out of your gun, then listening for a splash hoping you've done your job right.

We had a day on driven pheasants in the Dorset Hills on the same trip I did the woodcock. Had one of my old guns with me as well. Good high sporting birds too. A smaller day than yours, we did five drives and quit shooting at around 60 birds. I shot a mile behind them on the first couple pushes but then managed to get dialed in and killed 7 or 8 on the next to last.

You can post individual photos from PhotoBucket if yoiu just cut and paste the image url that has [img] brackets around it and then add it to your posting. They'll show up right in amongst the text.

Hope to see some others on here soon!
