    Dennis, I know how you feel about the gouges. As Dr. Drew said it is part of the history of the gun. Myself I would try and get at least some out. Sanding is not good, because you could alter the shape of the stock. The best way I found out to do this is to strip most of the finish and then get a wet rag and place it over the gouge and use a steam iron. Keep trying to raise the grain, but you also have to use a fresh area of the wet rag. This will take out a lot of dents, the only thing it will not do is take out areas where the fibers of the wood were cut. By the way, buy your own steam iron a cheap one $8.00, or else your wife might be steaming
