Ed, you are certainly more studied and versed in this entire subject than I am. At the risk of starting another round of discussion, I only will disagree with one point. That being, the SxS is not best for bring game to the pot. I regularily hunt dove, pheasant and rabbit with my LC Smiths. I have as good a success or better with those than my sons, daughter and several friends who shoot a variety of 1100s, 11-87, Benelli's or even Browning/Beretta o/u guns. And I have no claim to being an outstanding shot. (No remarks from anyone who saw me at the Southern a couple of years ago!) Although, with the rabbits over my beagles, I am probably more selective in my shots and often pass to let the hounds continue to run. My "best" rabbit gun is not an LC Smith and certainly is not a pretty gun. It is a Stevens 311 with skeet and imp bores on 26" barrels. It is at least 5" shorter than the 1100s, much quicker to the shoulder and faster to swing. Merry Christmas to all, Larry
