'Doubles in the Desert' shoot proposal Archived Message

I'm posting this on DoubleGunBBS, SS BB, the LCSCA and PGCA Forums. There seems to be a significant group of classic SxS shooters participating in all four Forums from Arizona, and I would enjoy getting to know some of my (as my wife pointedly observes) 'imaginary internet friends.' And the full-time AZ residents are joined by lots of 'snow birds', especially during Baseball Spring Training, mid-Feb throught the end of March. If an informal shoot was organized for the first weekend in Feb., Sat. the 2nd, quail season would still be open, potentially adding even more participants.
Let me make clear that I in no way represent the LCSCA, PGCA, nor the Vintagers, but would certainly encourage the participation of each.
The Ben Avery Clay Target Center just north of Phoenix, and right off I-17, is a wonderful facility with skeet, trap, 5-stand, and Sporting Clays. It shouldn't be hard to set up a 'Driven Grouse' stand on the Clays course, and a 2 Man 'Covey Flush' using one of the trap fields. Potential conflicts at Ben Avery include the Coyote Classic trap shoot Feb. 9 & 10, the Copper State Open skeet shoot usually the end of Feb., the SASS Winter Range March 5-9, and the AZGFD Outdoor Expo the end of March.
As an initial effort, I don't see this as a formal shoot with prizes or awards, and the cost would be simply what you would pay to Ben Avery for your targets. I'm mostly interested in having an opportunity for double gunners to get together, and where this goes in the future will be up to the participants. It is also possible that William Larkin Moore (in Scottsdale) or one of the ammo makers might want to have a presence, which would be great.
SO-thoughts? suggestions? interest in helping organize this? other double gunners desperately seeking a meaningful life?
Please feel free to e-mail me at revdoc2@cox.net or post here, and thanks to all!
