I have a 12ga. field grade S/N Fw 77451. I believe was built 1925. My father got it from his father. I'm about to pass it on to my son. The question is this: Should it be completely reconditioned (mechanisms & appearance)? Or, should the appearance be left alone and only make certain that it's tight and safe to shoot? It has not been shot since the early 80's. Although as a teenager, I remember it shooting pheasants very effectively. I'm no expert, but in my opinion, it's in average condition. Any suggestions are gratefully accepted. Pictures available. Send me email address. Thanks.
