This is news to me; which of Murph's posts/threads are you referencing? Personally, I have never had an LC Smith gun totally fail; and the only problem I have personally ever experienced is the occassional "doubling" with the Hunter One-trigger. That said, I know springs and other small parts occassionally fail from fatigue, wear, and abuse; but these kinds of problems happen with all makes. As FYI, the ONLY gun that has ever totally failed leaving me frustrated and cursing my misfortunes while in the field was a GHE Parker with a Parker single trigger (a gun I sold after the second identical mishap); but when the trigger screwed-up on this gun, it absolutely quit functioning with the exception of the opening lever and bolt. With all other vintage trigger malfunctions, I could at least use one barrel (the side that would work; or, if doubling, load only one barrel). I would be interested to know of this event, and will investigate when advised. Speaking from first hand experience with the Challenge (over four years with large volumes of shooting) there have been very few gun malfunctions of any type (other than with single triggers of both makers), and no mishaps; and, unless it is definatively acknowledged by the LCSCA member in charge of this un-named event (and I would think that individual to be Charlie Brooks or Bill Winter), I would consider any such broad statement as "where they (meaning Smith guns) mostly all failed" to be a total exaggeration. If I learn otherwise, I will acknowledge same and post details.
