    Mr. Mitchell,
The gun has "Armour Steel" barrels. The extractor is controlled by a roller on the barrel lump. Interesting to me are the block letters "ARR" stamped on both sides of the stock about 10 cm. above the buttplate. These letters are around 1/4" high and stamped at ninety degrees to the long axis of the stock. It would seem a strange way for a private owner to identify his firearm, and I wonder if the gun was owned by a company or governmental agency. The most credible guess so far has been "Atlantic Railroad". The barrels are 30", so it is not a shortened version like the "Wells Fargo" Ithaca's. Perhaps someone in the accounting department felt that the extra weight out front smoothed the swing when someone was trying to bag a highwayman on the wing?
