I was hoping someone might be able to help me in selecting a recoil pad for a 16 g FW field grade that I'm having refinished. I actually have a SW silvers No. 3 pad right now but it looks huge! I was going to put in on another 12g gun that I have. Can this pad be ground down so much that it will fit a 16g stock? I like the looks of the Hawkins model 25 recoil pad in the new LC smith book (with the half-diamond shape), but I can't find one anywhere. Apparently they were used in the 40's when my gun was made, and came in different sizes. Anyone have a source for them? or a better suggestion for a 16g grind to fit pad?
