re: lengthening chambers please see this thread http://www.16ga.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1983 I had a 20g 1922 Trojan (oh the shame )with chambers cut close to 2 3/8". Recoil was WICKED using AA 7/8 oz target loads and no doubt the case was extending into the forcing cone if not the bore. I would agree with Phil that the smith doing the work should know what he's doing (like Orlen), and lengthening chambers in 2 1/2" 20g French guns and Ithaca Flues can be risky. I don't agree that the work would lessen value unless the gun is a 98% collector quality piece.
